ＢＯＲＯ(襤褸)とは、

150年以上前に実際に生活の中で使用していた布。

破れたり、ツギハギを重ねた衣服、または敷物など。

​

 

着ることは食べること以上の死活問題、

特に寒冷地の農民・漁民が過酷な寒さから身を守るため、布やハギレ、糸さえも大事な財産でした。

着ている着物がすり減って穴が開いたらまたハギレでツギハギをして長く愛用していました。

着物から敷物へと生活の中で姿を変えていきます。

困難をのりこえるための当たり前の事に、アイディアとその強い生命力を感じることができます

こうして長い間使い続けられたボロは、人間模様を感じられる布として残っており、

欧米を中心に高く評価されています。
